September 2019: Repurposing eduPKI CA for exclusive eduroam usage

After talking to existing users and Relying Parties of the eduPKI CA it has been unanimously decided to repurpose the eduPKI CA to a special eduroam only CA. Therefore a new Certificate Policy (CP) and Certificate Practice Statement (CPS) will be developed and the accreditation under the current eduPKI Trust Profiles for "eduroam Certificates", "Certificates for GÉANT's Multi-Domain Network Services" and "Generic Server- and Client-Machine-Certificates" will be withdrawn.

February 2016: Updated eduPKI documents

eduPKI documents are now aligned to the new GÉANT corporate design. There are updated eduPKI PMA governing documents, eduPKI Trust Profile documents and eduPKI CA policy (CP/CPS) documents.

June 2014: eduPKI CA issues SHA256 end-entity certificates

With the adoption of the updated eduPKI CA Certificate Policy all end-entity certificates issued from now on will be signed with the signature algorithm sha256WithRSAEncryption.

June 2014: Policy update for eduPKI CA

eduPKI CA received a policy (CP/CPS) update to add support for the new "eduPKI Trust Profile for Generic Server- and Client-Machine-Certificates". The updated policy can be found here.

June 2013: eduPKI CA System Maintenance Works 13.07.2013

The eduPKI CA systems will undergo required maintenance works on Saturday, 13.07.2013 from 10:00 to 18:00 hrs (CEST - Berlin time) and are not available to process any requests during this period.

CRL download services from the advertised CRL distribution points (CDPs) and availability of OCSP certificate status information are not affect by those works.

eduPKI regrets any inconveniences this may cause.

June 2013: Updated eduPKI PMA and CA documents

A set of updated documents has been prepared to reflect the transition from GN3 to GN3Plus. Updates have been applied to all eduPKI PMA governing documents, the eduPKI Trust Profile documents and the eduPKI CP/CPS document. All changes are considered minor. Documents take effect on 17.06.2013.

April 2013: Transition into GN3Plus begins

GN3Plus - the successor project of GN3 - has started. Transformation of all current documents is under way. Service is running as usual.

January 2013: Milan Sova (1962-2012)

With deepest sorrow we have learned that Milan Sova (CESNET) - serving as a member of the eduPKI PMA from its inception on - passed away on December 31st 2012. September 2012: Gerti Foest (1949-2012)

We are very sad to learn that Gerti Foest (DFN) - being a member of the eduPKI team from its inception on - passed away on September 11th 2012. Gerti with her exceptional ability to translate complex and technical matters in a way that users not familiar with the subject could understand them and her sincere nature will be greatly missed. April 2012: CESNET CA 3 accredited under the eduPKI Trust Profile for eduroam Certificates

eduPKI PMA has approved an updated version of the "eduPKI Trust Profile for eduroam Certificates". The updated eduPKI Trust Profile can be found here.

March 2011: eduPKI launched as full GÉANT service

In March 2011 eduPKI became part of the GÉANT Service Portfolio.

January 2011: eduPKI CA's Registration Authority for eduroam in operation

Identity and service providers of eduroam can now request SSL certificates from the eduPKI CA tailored to their very needs. Certificate applications are handled by eduPKI CA's Registration Authority for eduroam.

December 2010: eduPKI starts production phase

eduPKI CA migrated to full production at the GÉANT Symposium end of November 2010. Certificates for eduroam are now issued by the eduPKI CA.

Juli 2010: eduPKI starts pilot-operation

eduPKI has entered the pilot phase and will issue the first certificates for eduroam soon. Other GÉANT services are invited to use the eduPKI CA if they need X.509 certificates for their service and if they cannot obtain such certificates from a national CA service.
